Service & Repair
Please contact us before sending equipment that is more than 10 years old as we may not be able to repair or give service.
For safety reasons, electric equipment older than 15 years will not be serviced.
Repair/Overhaul Service
USA Customer:
- Please fill out the Repair Request Form and fax or email it to us. A copy of the form must be included with your equipment.
- Once we receive and inspect your equipment, we will send you a quotation for the cost of repair. Repair cost estimates are under present unit test and examination. There may be extra costs added if further defective parts are found during the repair process. You will be notified of the extra costs.
- If you decide to proceed with the repair, fax or email a copy of a Purchase Order that covers the cost of repair plus shipping/handling (from customers who have an established account) or complete the Credit Card Payment Form.
Please Note:
- Freight charges will be added to the invoice/credit card charge for the return of the repaired equipment.
- If it is decided that the equipment is not to be repaired, there will be an evaluation fee of US$100.00 charged, plus the cost of shipping.
- For equipment older than 10-years, parts may not be available. Please make sure to send Repair Request Form first and request for assistance.
- Do not send "Magnetic Stand (base)" with the equipment.
- If replacement parts are needed, a longer time for the repair will be required.
- Please pack equipment carefully so as not to damage it during shipment.
- Secure all loose parts (movable parts) with tape, wire, string, etc.
- Make sure to use a large enough box so that there is enough room to firmly insert packing material around the equipment.
- Shake the box gently to make sure the equipment is not loose in the box.
Canadian Customers:

- We will send you the RRA.

- You are responsible for all charges in shipping the product(s) into and out of the U.S.A. for repair. These charges include shipping/handling, brokerage, customs and duty which must be prepaid by you. Narishige will not accept shipments that are sent freight, brokerage, customs and duty "collect".

Repair/ Overhaul Service Fee Examples
Note: Labor is charged at a rate of US$100.00 per hour. The cost for parts is additional.
- Simple Overhaul:
Mechanical manipulators (MM-3, MN-151, UM-3C, etc.) approx.1 hour High-grade mechanical manipulators (MX-2, NMN-21, etc.) approx.3 hours Hydraulic micromanipulators (MO-103, MHW-3 etc.) approx.2 hours Electrical equipment (PC-10, MF-900, MM-89, etc.) approx.3 hours - Additional Labor Fees:
Dismantle and rebuild the whole unit add approx.1 hour Replace and adjust the hydraulic system add approx.1 hour - Fees for Repair parts:
* Please note that in principle, we do not sell parts.
Hydraulic System Cartridge US$150.00 for each axis The cost of some replacement parts is between US$50.00 and US$300.00.
These are just examples from our experience. The cost of service depends on the condition of the unit. After evaluating your unit, you will be sent an estimate of repair or overhaul.
Please note that all shipping and handling charges are your responsibility.
When you send your equipment to us for service, please complete the "Repair Request Form" and enclose in the package with equipment.
Note: Repairs are warranted for 90 days.
